Jacksonville screen room, patio rooms and carports from Martin Home Exteriors have no screen, are wide open and use aluminum posts to support the roof. With additional framing we can install screen to protect you from the bugs and the weather. The most basic screen room would have screen to the floor or we can add a kickplate to keep rain from splashing in. 18/14 screen is most common size screen we use, it lets in air, but keeps the flies and mosquitoes out. If the pesky gnats are a problem we can install a 20/20 screen with tighter mesh. This “gnat” screen will keep most bugs out, but also restrict some of the air flow.
If your desire is to keep the dust and wind out of the room, vinyl windows may fit your needs. Similar to a very heavy duty siran wrap, vinyl windows have been used for years as a lost cost covering, they are far less expensive than glass but are not designed to be energy efficiant and need to be cleaned with a preserver to keep from fogging.
You can convert your screen room to a three season room by adding Glass windows. Combining these Energy efficiant insulated glass windows with an airconditioner can further extend the use of your room. We are currently running a special on Sunrooms! Save now!
KickPlate: A kickplate is the lower portion of the wall. Its purpose is to keep rain from splashing in, it also helps to prevent damage from pets and helps to define the room. The majority of screen rooms have either screen top to bottom or a 16″ aluminum Kickplate. We can match your existing siding with HardiePlank, Panel, Vinyl siding even Stucco or Brick if desired.
If you will be installing windows and conditioning your room expect to insulate your kickplate. We can use a tempered insulated glass window, insulate with traditional insulation or use an insulated panel like we use on the roof. These thicker kickplates allow us to install and conceal electrical and cable wiring.
